Heading to South America in two days for 25 days.... I'll be updating my blog after that (Apr. 5th.) Beginning a few new adventures on my return involving outdoor life!! I cannot wait for the holiday and the adventures afterward... blogs will go along with this as well.
Our Holiday will include a two day stay in Santiago
and then two days in Valparaiso. We will then depart from there for a 17 day cruise up the coast of South America, with many stops along the way, including two days in Lima, Peru. Our last stop and completion of the trip will be in Los Angeles -- for four days!

Blueberry weekend.

sleepy
I spent 2 hours yesterday Saturday morning picking the most plentiful, delicious blueberries and then cleaned them (somewhat). Then I had a delicious dessert made with Angel Food cake, Blueberry sauce and real whipped cream. Yummmmmmmm!!!!!!!. Calories in the cream only!

I did very little for the rest of the day but watched a bit of tele., checked e-mails, washed clothes, fed the birds, made jam, read my National Geographic Magazine that came in the mail this week (given to me as a birthday gift by Diana), had decaf coffee with a friend who dropped by - John's friend, Frank, actually. discussed the pro's and con's of working at our age - A glorious day!!! Now that I've written down what I did, it wasn't such a lazy day as I thought.
I called the vet. and ordered a pheromone diffuser for our house. It automatically sprays pheromone in the air and will last about a month. We will try this tactic to, hopefully, keep Sophie from spraying and causing our house to smell. She started doing this about a year ago when a neighbours black cat would come around to visit... she's been doing it off and on ever since. Therefore, I spend lots of time cleaning and scouring so there isn't any cat smell. John says words like...'she'll have to go" or 'we can't have a dirty cat around" - I know he's right but I'm not willing to go that route.

Sophie 4 yrs. Oats 10 yrs. Vince 9 yrs.
Today the winds have shifted and it's the first time I've noticed a cool northerly wind all summer. Very refreshing. The sun will shine this afternoon and I'll plant the rest of my perennials that I acquired during the summer. Hopefully they well root enough to stay healthy during the winter. My garden is slowing fading, except for my flox, alyssum, black-eyed susans, hydrangeas and roses. The dogberry trees are beginning to take on their red berry phase.

Now it's time for me to shower and clean house some more in that order. John will be home at 7:00 p.m.

It has rained all weekend... which I'm enjoying as it gives me a chance to check e-mail's, update Flickr, Facebook and my blog journal..... We haven't had rain like this for awhile so the plants soaking it up.
Last weekend Diana, Daria, Sebastian and I spent the weekend in Elliston, Bonavista and Trinity area.
It was a breathtaking time. The sun shone, the colours were lively and the scenes were spectacular.

We slept in tents in an open field surrounded by trees. Cold, running water, picnic tables and outhouses were our amenities. We dined on havarti, cheddar, italian and portuguese cheeses; a variety of breads; Diana's special pastas; & Daria's sandwiches. Diana and I both bought a new red wine to try. When we opened our coolers, we both had the same wine... wow - we thought "What a coincidence". It was delicious (is that's the right word for wine?) - we came home with a bottle and a half left - too busy to drink it.

We ended our first day with a cozy campfire.

On a lovely beach!

Breakfast was a joy because it was always sunny and a beautiful start to our day - Daria & Sebastian forgot coffee mugs, so plastic wine glasses did nicely to hold the morning pick-me-up!

We then went back into Bonavista. A fisherman had promised us the day before that he would take us out on his boat in the morning to get up close and personal with the icebergs. We were very excited about doing this so we wasted no time in getting to the wharf area.

After a short wait our captain arrived and we excitedly stepped into the fishing vessel to make our way to the iceberg

My plan for the weekend is to spend this day gardening I just have to get away from the computer. Here's the view from my front verandah. That bed in the middle is what I'll work on. The sun is shining and it's calling me!

The view from my front verandah
Tomorrow we'll hike on the eastcoast trail with Diana if the rain holds off. It's one of my favourite places to spend a day.
The big muscle boil-up on East Coast Trail!

Cooking Muscles - Eastcoast Trail

Moss Floor - Eastcoast Trail

We'll hurry back 'cause Jim & family are in from Gander. We'll have a barbecue for supper. Carol & family will come along also.

Florida`
John and I love going to Florida, and this last trip was no exception. We travelled to Kissimmeeand stayed at a friends house for several days. Then spent time in Madeira Beach area of St. Pete's, then back to Kissimmee.
December is probably one of the cooler times to visit, but I love that time of year there. Not too hot, Christmas decorations all around, and great walks without dying in the heat.
We spent a small amount of time in Disneyworld - Epcot to be exact - and it was very interesting indeed, but as I'm not a child, it was a little disappointing as well - but, then again, nothing can live up to the hype that these Disney places have been given over the years.
Epcot was very well done and it took a day to see the whole area and to experience the different pavilions that represent several countries in different areas of the world. My favourite was Germany - even though it was primarily a street in Germany that represented the architecture of some streets that are actually in the country. I loved how authentic it 'looked'... but the inside each building was a 'tourist trap', meaning selling whatever Disney sells to make more money. I also liked the experience of flying in "SOARIN'" We were strapped in a large seat, lifted from the ground/floor and put before a large surround sound/IMAX screen. A movie was then shown of places around the world as seen from a jet whizing through and over all the sites. Each time the aircraft dived, dipped, lifted or soared, we felt it in the chairs and moved with the aircraft. Amazing!!!!

Our most exciting moments at Epcot came at 9:30 p.m. when the fireworks began. It was definitely worth the wait and some parts of it definitely gave goosebumps, which I am not prone to. In the beginning a gigantic world globe glowing from the inside, floated across a waterway into our view. The beautiful music and amazing announcers voice told the story of the earth and it's people very dramatically. This continued for 10 to 15 minutes. The main part of the fireworks began when this was over and went on for quite some time, all to the rythms of the music surrounding us.
On around day four we travelled to St. Pete's and spent time in the Madeira Beach area at our friend's sister's condo. A beautiful retreat with a pool, lots of space, beautiful grounds and within
John and his friend, Jim, were lucky enough to get tickets for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Football game, which I would have loved to attend as well, but if anyone was going to the game it was going to be the men as there were only two tickets available for them. According to their report - the game was so-so, but the whole experience was amazing, as I thought it would be. The experience of 40,000 fans in one arena was worth the ticket. There were half-time shows, fan shows and fan fun all around them - great memories!

Aruba update
Well, it's been awhile! We've been as busy as nailers!!!. Travelling, renovating, and every day living.

We stayed in a Cunuku house owned by a gentleman John met when he worked in Alberta for a few months.

We travelled to Aruba and spent 17 day there from March 1st. to 17th. What a trip! An amazing island with wonderful, friendly people and lots of interesting places to visit for such a small place... 6 mi. x 19 mi., and we saw every inch of it!

A car went with the house and we made good use of it. We travelled to every beach and ever site to be seen, beginning with A donkey sanctuary...http://www.arubandonkey.org/ and took some great photo's including this one of their youngest member.
